Last week off before heading back to school

A Giraffe at the Rothschild Giraffe Center in Karen

Sharon loving that slobbery tongue of the giraffe's eating up the pellets they give you to feed the giraffes.

Katie, Sharon, David and Jalena all feeding Daisy. She was very hungry, she had just had a baby four weeks ago and could not get enough food in her.
Jalena petting the elephant at the elephant orphanage.

Sharon, David and Jalena showing off the tower they had just built. Jalena named it the Rubin Vaccine Hospital!

This week we were lucky that we had another wonderful visitor in town. Sharon, a good friend from Denver was here visiting with us and is off tomorrow to African Nazarene University. The University is nearby and she will be there participating in a conference for an NGO that she and her husband help support. The NGO is Education for All Children and you can take a peak at all that they do here for kids on their website, www.educationforallchildren.org. Sharon got here the morning my mom was leaving and we have had a busy week just playing with the kids, going to Amani, going to three different children's homes, and going to the elephant and giraffe orphanges as well. It was also a great transition for me to have another adult here for adult conversation after my mom left, plus Sharon has been a tremendous help with the kids and is great with them.

Unfortunately we still have no news on our adoption. The courts have asked for an extension on their vacation and they will not be returning to the courts until September 15th. We will not know until then when we can get a court case. We are still keeping our fingers crossed for late September, but my hopes of being home by late September have now vanished. We most likely at this point will not be home until late October at the earliest.

The kids start school again on Tuesday, which they are really looking forward to. They are starting to go a little stir crazy especially since this past week was cold and dreary. Still no rain in many months, it looked like it was going to rain many times and we got some mist in the mornings, but we are just hoping for some good old down POURS!!!

Hope everyone is well and we look forward to seeing you all soon!!!

Love,
Katie, Jalena and David
