David and Jalena switched schools at the end of last week and I cannot tell you how much happier I am here. It has made a huge difference, not that I don't want to get home, but this has helped my total desperation immensely! Jalena is in a much smaller class size and actually learning and touching things now, not just memorizing verses from the bible any longer. They both will have this thing called Monkeynastix, esentially gymnastics once a week, swimming (the pool is right on the campus), gym, science, French and Kiswahili, plus just the regular things 2 and five year olds do at school. Jalena has gone from having 19 in a class to 9 and has 2 teachers plus one assistant, plus she gets time on a daily basis with the special ed teacher. David went from 16 to 7, so they both are getting so much more attention and LOVE their new school, plus they are both in the same place and just love being together. They eat their snack, play on the playground and have lunch together. It is a bit of a haul to the other side of town, however they are so much happier as am I with the change. They both also finish by 1 pm, which is great because Jalena has different activities on a daily basis now, yoga, Occupational Therapy, and Braille Instruction at home. David gets his daily nap and play time with our neighbor Emile who is the same age, so everyone is staying very HAPPY!!!!!
I just spent five hours in the hair salon with Jalena getting extensions, so not so happy right now, but just put the kiddos to bed and hopefully the hair will last for 4 weeks so we don't have to worry about salons for a while. Hair here is really really hard work, especially Jalena's she has the thickest head of hair every stylist has ever seen here they all say! We cut it pretty short, you can see the new do we got Saturday and then today we went for some longer hair. Also some Yoga shots. Jalena does one on one with this great Yoga teacher, it really helps relax her muscles and just work on coordination, and she just loves it. When she comes home and practices on mommy's mat, David of course likes to join in.
Miss you all and hope all is well with everyone!!!
Katie
